What's Creativity?
Many people have different definitions of the word creativity. Some people view it as a lifestyle; however, my perspective is that to be creative is to use your imagination by being different yet in an attractive way and expressing it in any way you desire. It can be trough song, it can be through the way you dress, and it can be through anything.
Throughout history, a variety of people have been described as creative, especially in pop culture. Many think of Shakespeare, Dr. Seuss, Picasso, Lady GaGa, Madonna, or even Britney Spears as creative icons in history. Currently, in the eyes of the United States, Lady GaGa is the queen of creativity. She has performed at various world renown events and award shows. But the thing is, her outfits are what cause her to make people want to see her performances. She's had meat outfits, a bubble dress, barely any clothing, a dress with spikes. Basically, her dresses are of everything. If her dresses aren't of a specific object, it's for sure very unique in design. Lady GaGa also has very creative artwork for her albums, as one depicts her head as a monster on a motorcycle. Along with all her outfits and artwork, her songs can obviously be concluded to be very creative also. But I think all this creativity didn't come out of nowhere. I think that her childhood has everything to do with how she is now.
As a child, she was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germote in New York. She was born into a very strict religious roman catholic family. She attended an all-girls catholic school where her education was taken very seriously. Her creativity would not have been tolerated in her family/life. To try and express her creativity, she began to play piano at the age of 4. She then started performing in musicals and plays once she got to high school. After high school, she attended New York University's Tisch School of Arts, to finally be able to study her creativeness even more and deeper. After a year and a half; however, she decided to drop out and focus on her musical career. That is where it all began and thus, Lady GaGa is born. Even though I am not a fan of lady gaga, there is no denying she is one of the most creative people in existence today, if not the most creative.
Now let's focus on what is not creativity. Creativity is not dull. Creativity isn't repetitive. Creativity is not grey. I think one of the reasons why kids hate school is because it's not creative. But of course, everyone loves art class. Why? Because it's creative. If schools found a way to make classes like math, english, science, and history a little bit more creative, I bet students wouldn't even mind taking these classes and going to school. Sometimes in pre-calc, we make foldables or posters to help with definitions and equations and to be totally honest, that helps a lot, especially when I made mine.
